The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe has called on local security outfits in the state to be security conscious.
The warning follows intelligence that herders from other states may be migrating into the state to graze their cattle during the dry season.
Longe in a statement after a meeting with representatives from the Fulani Security committee and the local security outfits in the state said the influx of herders into the state during the period may serve as an avenue for criminally minded elements to disguise as herders to perpetrate crimes.
The statement read, “The meeting was called by the CP to strengthen the security architecture as we have entered the last four months popularly referred to as ‘EMBER’ month period.
“The CP urged the Fulani security group and the other local security outfits to be security conscious, especially as herders from other states might be migrating into the State to graze their cattle during the dry season which may serve as an avenue for criminally minded elements to disguise as herders to perpetrate various crimes.
“He urged these local/community security outfits to work hand-in-hand with the conventional security agents especially the Police Command in ensuring bad eggs are weeded out of the state.”
