Akinla of Erin Ijesa, Indigenes raise Concerns over Abandoned Hospital

The Akinla of Erin Ijesa, Osun State Oba Adeyeba Ayeni has drawn the attention of the State Government under the Administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke to the abandoned 20-bed government hospital at Erin Ijesa.

IjesaNews gathered that the project was started by the administration of Bola Ige in the old Oyo State between 1979 – 1983

Oba Ayeni in a Chat with our Reporter revealed that the hospital project has been begging for previous government’s attention and assistance without receiving any response from them .

He said “I was with the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, on Wednesday 26th December 2018 at Omo-Ijesa. I drew his attention to uncompleted 20 bed hospital at Erin-Ijesa and need to develop Olumirin Waterfalls to international standards. He promised to take it up but nothing happened till date.

I met with the Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi and the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola himself pleading for their intervention but nothing was done.”

The Akinla of Erin Ijesa, Oba Adeyeba Ayeni, described the community’s efforts to take over the project in a letter dated May 17, 2021, indicating that the community had requested the delivery of the project to her for completion in November 2019.

“Dr Isiaka Adekunle, Director Planning, Research & Statistics was at the abandoned 20-bed hospital site in Erin-Ijesa on Sunday 31st of October 2021 on the instruction of Former Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Uzamot; based on the earlier letter written to them asking for the release of the site to us to complete and hand over back to them.

The Monarch however appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Commissioner for Health Barrister Jola Akintola to urgently look into the matter and initiate process for Hospital’s revitalisation adding that the hospital when completed will boost the economic gains of Erin Ijesa coupled with Olumirin waterfall which is now a United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO world heritage site.
