Rainstorm: NEMA Visits Iloko-Ijesa, Conducts Assessment of Disaster

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, have assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

A Post on the official handle of the agency revealed that the team was led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem and they were received by Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba (Dr.) Akeem Ogungbangbe.

The Monarch and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.

According to NEMA, The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality, with over a thousand people affected and 600 displaced.

The community urgently appealed to the Federal government for assistance.

It would be recalled that a torrential downpour, which reportedly lasted more than two hours, was said to have resulted in flooding, which destroyed properties and washed away foodstuffs.
