Iwude-Ijesa Festival 2023: A Celebration of Unity, Culture and Tradition

It’s another season of funfair, as sons and daughters of Ijesaland will roll out the drums to celebrate this year’s edition of Iwude Ijesa Festival.

The festival which is always an unforgettable experience of cultural display and excitement will reach its climax on December 23rd 2023.

The purpose is to bring all Ijesa people of all religion together to celebrate and felicitate at this all important festival and to bring all Ijesha people in the six local government areas of Ijesaland together.

History has it that the Iwude festival was started by Owa Obokun Owari, who celebrates it every three months.

It was Owa Obokun Atakumosa who expanded it to the scope of Iwude a very elaborate festival.

IWUDE FESTIVAL is the mother of all festivals in IJESALAND.

IWUDE FESTIVAL is in essence therefore, a festival of unity. IWUDE FESTIVAL is a festival in which a well – deserved honour is given to KABIYESI, OWA OBOKUN. It is a festival of rich culture.

It is a festival in which cultural displays are featured. Such cultural displays include those of the royalty, manifested in the royal regalia of KABIYESI OWA OBOKUN of IJESALAND, the royal beads, the royal crowns, the royal umbrella, the royal walking stick, the royal horsetail, the royal steps, the royal smiles and the royal dance.

The cultural displays also feature the cultural dances by the people and that of KABIYESI OWA OBOKUN himself.

As Ijesaland celebrate this year’s festival, The Publisher, IjesaNews/LoveNigeria and National Coordinator on behalf of Ijesa Youth Development Foundation, Ijesa News Hub, Ijesa Day Celebrations UK, London and Ijesaland, Ijesa Union UK and Ireland has congratulated the paramount ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran CFR LLD on witnessing another edition of Iwude Ijesa Festival.

The Media Mogul who is also part of the planning committee of the Iwude Ijesa Festival in a statement made available to Journalists prayed to the Almighty God to make this year’s celebration surpass previous ones in Splendour.

Mr Sunday Adewusi praised the efforts of the Vice chairman of the planning Committee Chief Afolabi lgbaroola and all the committee members for making things happen year in year out

He admonished Sons and Daughters of Ijesaland both home and abroad to celebrate this year’s Iwude Ijesa Festival just as he called for the support of all and sundry in moving Ijesaland to the next level of development and growth
