Dignitaries Storm Amuye-Faforiji As Alamuye Gets Staff Of Office (Details in Photos and Videos)

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Saturday presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Alamuye of Amuye-Faforiji, Oba (Dr) Adebayo Faforiji Oteniara III amidst Pomp and Pageantry charging the monarch to work with his subjects for the development of the town just as he assured him of government’s support in moving the town forward.

The traditional monarch’s inauguration ceremony, which held at Community High School, Faforiji was witnessed by traditional rulers as well as political leaders from the nook and cranny of the country which include Wife of the Osun State Governor, Chief Mrs Tititola Adeleke, Oba Dr Adekunle Aromolaran II , The Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland represented by Oba Isaac Olagunsoye Onigbogi , Traditional Rulers and Chiefs from Ijesaland led by the Chairman, Atakunmosa East Chieftaincy Committee and President Ijesa South Traditional Council, Oba Samson Oyebade Oyeleye, Ogboni of Ipole.

House of Representatives Member from Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Honourable Sanya Omirin, Former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Osun Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Dosu Babatunde, Member of Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Sammi Areoye, Chairman Caretaker Committee, Atakunmosa East Local Government, Iperindo, Honourable Adewumi Adediran among others

Performing the presentation of the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new monarch, the Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi also urged Oba Faforiji to be father to all.

The Governor enjoined the traditional ruler to be accommodative, enduring, tolerant and diligent in his day-to-day administration of his domain while urging the subjects to rally round their king.

Ijesa News reports that The throne of the Amuye-Faforiji has been vacant following the demise of the immediate past occupant, the late Oba Paul Olanrewaju Adedewe, Atayero who died in 2010.

Since then the process of selection commenced and the kingmakers selected Adebayo Faforiji on 6th September 2013.

Previous administrations refused to confirm his appointment as Monarch until Governor Adeleke approved the appointment on December 20th, 2022 followed by his installation by Amuye-Faforiji Kingmakers on the 30th of December, 2022.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Faforiji appreciated the state government for making the historic event possible and responding to the yearning of the people since 2010 by approving his appointment on December 20th, 2022 after nine years of political pettiness and unwarranted bureaucracy.

“My appreciation is limitless in the expression of my gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke for granting express approval of my appointment on Tuesday 20th of December last year.

“We are here today in celebration of the magnanimity of the people’s governor, who rescued me and Faforiji Community from nine years of political pettiness and unwarranted bureaucracy.

“Your Excellency, the official presentation of instrument of appointment and staff of office today brings to an end our sad story of oppression and deprivation and we are deeply grateful” He added.

The Monarch drew the attention of government to the lack of basic infrastructure saying Amuye-Faforiji is an agrarian Community which needs basic amenities and Urban markets to satisfy the daily needs of its residents.

“Your Excellency, Ladies and Gentlemen on your way to our community today, you will observe the condition of our terrain and our dire need of government patronage. we live in an agrarian community but lack the necessary infrastructure to evacuate our farm produce to urban markets or basic amenities to satisfy our daily welfare needs. I am sure that our listening governor has taken note and in his characteristics “talk and do” manner, our community will wear a new progressive look soonest.”

He added that through the town’s agreement with a solar energy firm called Sholep Energy Limited, the 30 years of no electricity from the national grid will be a thing of the past as the project to restore electricity to Faforiji is ongoing noting that when the project is completed, it will draw a lot of small and medium scale industries to the Community thereby boosting trade, commerce and the socio economic status of Faforiji.

” Your Excellency after about 30 years without electricity from the National grid our town went into an agreement with a solar energy firm Sholep Energy Limited to provide Faforiji and its neighbours with 24/7 electricity, I am glad to inform your Excellency that the project is currently ongoing. I believe that when this project is completed it will draw a lot of small and medium scale industres to Faforiji community, thereby boosting trade, commerce and eventually the socio- economic status of our community

Oba Faforiji further listed other areas of urgent government’s intervention particularly the establishment of a tertiary institution in the community to take advantage of the incoming infrastructure and electrification project

“While thanking Your Excellency in advance for your anticipated action on our request on road network, I will like to seize this rare opportunity to request that you use your good office to establish a tertiary educational institution in Faforiji to take advantage of the incoming infrastructure as well as ongoing and electrification project .

“We have adequate land mass in our community that can accommodate such an institution whenever our request is considered and granted.

In his address, The Chairman, Planning Committee of occasion, Mr Matthew Ayooluwa Fadeyi described the occasion as a special moment adding that despite the challenges faced, the committee aggregated ideas and fantastic arrangements were made to make the programme a success.

He thanked the members of the committee for the services delivered.

Mr Fadeyi appealed to the governor to look into the total rehabilitation and repair of the underlisted roads which are now impassable due to years of neglect. They include:

Garage-Olode Faforiji-Atorin-Ifewara road

Faforiji-Ayinrin Adedeji-Ajebamidele-Ifewara road

Faforiji-Ayinrin Adedeji-Oko Aogo-Igangan-Iwara road

Faforiji-Eti-Oni-Ilesa road and Ifetedo-Faforiji road.
